Cave No.5 - Devana Alut Viharaya
This cave, called Devana Alut Viharaya, is the smallest of all shrine rooms of the Dambulla Rock Temple. This was made a shrine room by a local chieftain in the beginnings of this century.
This cave constitutes natural rock as the roof and four built up walls. It has a painted area of 69.52 square meters. The width of it is roughly 6.8 meters and length id roughly 12.25 meters. The seats of the Buddha statue are built with bricks and trouble similar to those used in building the walls. There are eleven statues in this cave and the principle images are the recumbent Buddha.
This image takes a more prominent place than the other ten statues, for it shows a higher degree of workmanships.
